SUOMEN AIVOTUTKIMUSSEURAN MYÖNTÄMÄT PALKINNOT
Suomen Aivotutkimussäätiö (SATS), on Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) jäsenjärjestö, jonka tarkoituksena on edistää aivojen ja hermoston tieteellistä tutkimusta ja koota yhteen eri aloilla toimivia tutkijoita, joiden työ kohdistuu hermostoon. SATSin toimintaan kuuluu myös kansallisten kokousten järjestäminen, joiden yhteydessä SATSin hallitus valitsee suomalaisten aivotutkijoiden keskuudesta hyvin ansioituneen tutkijan ja myöntää hänelle "Neuroscientist of the Year" -palkinnon.
Vuonna 2023, palkinnon saajaksi valittiin professori Iiris Hovatta (Helsingin yliopisto). Palkinto myönnettiin Hovatalle kesäkuussa 2023 SATS:n järjestämässä Neuroscience Finland tapahtumassa.
Samassa tilaisuudessa palkittiin myös paras neurotieteen alan väitöskirja. Palkinto myönnettiin tutkijalle Olesia Ignatenko, joka väitteli Helsingin yliopistosta aiheenaan ''Astrocyte contribution to the pathogenesis of mitochondrial dysfunction".
